International Career
The one-man army of the recent Zimbabwe cricket team, Sikandar Raza is an exception who has earned his position in the international team. Raza was born on 24 April 1986 in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan to a Punjabi-Muslim family. - August 6, 2022: Raza smashed back-to-back centuries against Bangladesh in an ODI series that led them to win their first ODI series against Bangladesh since 2013.
- October 23, 2024: He created history when he secured 133 runs off 43 balls only, which is the 2nd fastest T20I century and the first T20I century for Zimbabwe against the Gambia in the 2024 ICC Men’s World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier.
Indian Premier League
Sikandar Raza has phenomenal batting capability and he has proved his worth in every format, especially in the T20 format. He is a T20 specialist, so it was his greatest desire to appear in the Indian Premier League which is the best T20 league tournament. However, it was a little late when he appeared for the first time in 2023 in the Indian Premier League. He was signed by Punjab Kings for the 2023 IPL and he made his debut in the same year. Domestic Career
When Raza returned to Zimbabwe in 2007, he was determined to get into the sport professionally and wanted to represent Zimbabwe at international level. He made his First-Class debut on April 12, 2007, in the Logan Cup for the Northerners against the Easterns. Although his first match was a remarkable one, he scored 17 runs off 87 balls at a strike rate of 19.54 in the 1st innings and accumulated only 8 runs off 32 balls at a strike rate of 25 in the 2nd innings. However, he has improved his playing style and his abilities in First-Class cricket, he has a top score of 146 runs. He has 4462 runs in total in first-class cricket and 81 wickets in 67 matches which shows his absolute all-rounding ability.
Raza debuted in his List-A journey just 20 days before his First-Class debut on March 22, 2007. It was the match of the Westerns vs the Northerns at Harare, Zimbabwe and he was the part of Northerns. He was in the top batting order and opened from the non-striking side. Raza scored just a run off 8 deliveries and was dismissed for the first wicket. Later, in 2010, he amassed 44 runs for Southern Rocks in the Pro40 Championship, which was his first noticeable performance. Personal life
The sensational all-rounder of Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza Butt was born on 24 April 1986 in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan. He was born in a Punjabi-speaking Kashmiri family and studied at Pakistan Air Force College, Lower Topa, Pakistan. Initially, Raza wanted to become a Pakistan Air Force pilot and was selected among the 60 students out of 60000 to become a fighter pilot. Unfortunately, he failed to clear the final eye test and was not qualified to be a pilot. Raza and his family moved to Zimbabwe in 2002 and he moved to Scotland, UK to pursue further higher education at Glasgow Caledonian University to complete his bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering and completed his graduation in 2009.

Raza was born in a Punjabi-speaking Muslim family, his father, Tasadaq Hussain Raza shifted from Japan to Zimbabwe in 2002 and his father owns a motor parts business. Raza’s interest in cricket was sparked as his father and uncles played cricket at a young age and they wanted to represent Pakistan internationally. Details about his mother and her name are not disclosed on the internet. He has a brother, Taymoor Raza Butt, who is younger than him. Raza married his wife, Laila Khan, and they have two kids named Muhammad Aesa and Muhammad Musa.

He got very furious with the umpire’s decision and pointed his bat towards the umpire and abused him and later he was again spotted abusing the umpire while entering the dressing room. Due to this unprofessional act of Sikandar Raza, the ICC fined him 50 per cent of his match fees and imposed 2 demerit points for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct Level 1.
