Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Suryakumar Yadav’s 57 off 39 guided Mumbai to 184/7, but a commanding 109-run partnership between Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya sealed the chase for Punjab as they book their place for Qualifier one.

‌The much-anticipated encounter between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians unfolded at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma provided a solid start, taking the score to 45 without loss in the first five overs. However, Marco Jansen broke the stand in the sixth over, removing Rickelton. Suryakumar Yadav then joined Sharma at the crease, and the duo kept the scoreboard ticking, taking Mumbai to 79/1 by the ninth over, with Surya striking at an impressive rate of 174. Harpreet Brar then struck a crucial blow by dismissing Rohit Sharma, bringing Tilak Varma to the middle. But Tilak’s lean patch continued as he fell to Vyshak Vijaykumar in the 11th over. The Karnataka pacer was in fine rhythm, claiming his second wicket by removing Will Jacks in the 13th. With skipper Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar at the crease, Mumbai reached 131/4 at the end of 15 overs. Although Pandya departed shortly after, Surya remained composed, continuing his fluent knock and bringing up a half-century off just 34 deliveries. Mumbai eventually closed their innings at 184/7, with Suryakumar dismissed on the final ball.

Punjab openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh started the chase with ease and accumulated 34/0 in four overs. However, Prabhsimran struggled from the early and ultimately threw away his wicket to Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over. But Josh Inglis looked in terrific form and alongside Arya, Punjab tallied at 105/1 in 11 overs and in driver's seat. Additionally, Inglis scored his first IPL fifty in 28 deliveries as Mumbai Indians looked desperate to break this partnership. Putting more salt in Mumbai's wounds, Arya too joined the party and scored a brilliant half ton in 27 deliveries. With 54 runs needed off just 42 deliveries, the duo notched up the 100 runs partnership, slowly paving way for Punjab’s victory. However, the brilliant partnership was put to end when Mitchell Santner scalped Arya in the 15th over who departed scoring 62 off 35. Thereafter, Iyer joined Inglis as Punjab needed just 27 off 24 deliveries. However, Santner scalped Inglis in the 18th over but it was too late as Punjab needed 11 runs off 13. Ultimately, skipper Iyer scored the winning runs as Punjab won the game by seven wickets and will now play the Qualifier one game.
